Vintage but classic

The main aspect of this photo that I like is the aging of the door, while the stone and brick stays youthful. This picture is very cool in the sense that the doors, which are obviously old, finish of lacquer is coming off. That is the typical thing that I think of when I hear vintage. The stone work around the door, which are equally old or older, are still in pristine condition. I thought that the contrasting of the two vintage materials, brought a new aspect to the assignment.

Action on the go

This picture has kind of an interesting story. I was in the car with the camera and was looking for something news worthy, when I came upon this. There now is this interesting angle, because I was in the passengers seat while still moving, when I took the picture. This picture has some interesting lines. The truck is parallel to the power lines. The other good thing about this picture is that the truck is on the lower right side of the frame.

Sunset from the Peabody

This picture was taken off the balcony of a hotel. This picture doesn't have too much too it, but it still has some interesting qualities. I like how the sun projects a white light on the top third of the picture and slowly fades to a yellow/pink. The buildings in the photo bring some depth and add more subject matter. The lines of the most prominent building lead to the sun, which is the focal point.

Point of no return

This photo is a snippet of one part/limb of a larger plant. The leaves/petals around the white center bud are gradually dying. As you follow the stem down there are varying levels of dying, the top leaves seem to be brittle, while the lower leaves appear wilted. The stem leads the eye through the photo, which in turn is a walk through the different stages of decay. The stem and the back of the leaves have a frosted look to them which adds an interesting touch to the photo.

Landscape of Lines

This is a typical winter landscape in Maine. There are a few aspects of the photo that I like. The trees stand out, but I like how they are frosted with snow, which adds a soft effect to the photo. The sky adds the overall feeling of the picture too, which is a white/gray tone. It's interesting how both the power lines and the recent tire tracks both lead into one point near the end of the street. The formation of those lines draws the eye to that point.

Talking Feet

I decided to shoot the foot/feet assignment. I thought I should change it up and take a picture of my dog's foot instead of shooting a persons foot. The pads of his feet show a rough texture from being out in the winter weather. His hair in between his toes provide some more interesting texture along with some interesting lines. I like how just the bottom of his foot in in focus, while his leg is out of focus.

Vibrant Colors

I took this picture this weekend while in Florida. The colors of both the butterfly and the flower really pop. The shallow depth of field makes the butterfly and the flower the focal point. The only objects that are in focus are the butterfly and the one flower that it is on, which also drays the eye in.
